What Cars last the Longest ?(realistic mentality. ) 1

What cars last the longest , it’s a question i like it very much and many people , ask the same question ,waiting for a solid answer which can last to “eternity” .

The reliability factor .

The reliability of a car brand isn’t something , that stays stable , no matter what . Some car brands which they aren’t so reliable in the past , they improve themselves and they are reliable now and vice versa .

This very serious question about the cars reliability , is in a big grade a kind of a relevant theme but let’s try to see some helpful mentality tips , so anyone can judge for himself , in the best possible way .

Before all the search you are going to do , concerning the reliability of your future car , you should know and check the safety and reliability results , the specialists announces regularly .

Elite companies , institutes and research centers exist and their job , is the continuous testing of all the car brands in the world .

Some of them , which are well known around the planet and professional in their works are :

Best car Reliability research centers globally .

1) www.Jdpowers.com
2) www.Consumerreports.org

3) www.Euroncap.com ( about safety )
4) www.Adac.com
5) www.Dekra.com

Whenever you search for something and you want to see the latest test about it , go to these institutes and watch their testing results . And these results are always changing , because new testing methods , new technics are discovered every single day or so .

The humans always try to be better , in what he does , NEVER ENDS . So back in our question , for the cars which last the longest , we can unveil some very interesting conclusions , through the last decades .

Conclusion number 1 :

The Japanese manufacturers are in the top of all the reliability lists and they are in the top CONSTANLTY . And from Asia( in general geographical terms ) , they aren’t the only one .

The Korean manufacturers have made , gigantic “jumps” not only in their design and quality area ,but they have improved their already high reliability .

Huyndai and Kia , are making a great impact in the car manufacturer’s area , creating cars which ,they have nothing to be jealous of , from the “traditional” european creators .

In all car testings concerning reliability , the names of Toyota , Honda , Subaru , Nissan , Daihatsu , Isuzu , Suzuki , Mitsubishi and not only , “dominate” among the others .

Toyota and Honda are the ones that created , Full Hybrid electric cars for “common” use , back i the 90’s . Toyota with the Toyota Prius in 1997 and Honda with the Insight in the 1999 .

You know back then the electric cars , aren’t in the agenta of
the car manufaturers and this a characteristic example of those 2 companies Insight(!) .

So if you want to buy a car and have the biggest “amount” of posibilities to be reliable , the Japanese manufacturers should be in your list and in the first places .

Conclusion number 2 :

The japaneses , aren’t the only ones(!) who make good and reliable cars . The “traditional” forces on this earth still makes excellent and reliable cars .

Mercedes , BMW , Audi , Volvo , the VW group , Ford , the PSA group from France , are “Mammoth” car and technology forces and they never get “lazy” to remind us all , their capabilities .

We should not forget , that in the 4 wheels Motorsport championships around the globe , the europeans are the “columns” of them and they “rule” the game” .

OK in the 2 wheels the Japaneses are in charge , but the last decade and more the europeans have woken up and in the dirt , they ‘ve never left behind .

So both the 2 manufacturers “schools” make , reliable cars and the differences aren’t always so huge between them ,exept some specific times , in which a factory has a total failure in a specific car line .

But if we want to pick ONE and ONLY ONE car manufacturer , to be our reliability Champion , who would it be ?

Toyota is the first name , which comes in my mind and i suppose not only in my mind . Through the years Toyota has managed to “invade” in people’s mind , as the most reliable car manufacturer in the world .

And it deserves that .

There are countless examples of a toyota which it didn’t had a “decent” servise or a oil change , for years and still worked , as a “loyal” servant .

Of course there are and examples of volvo’s which had made millions of kilometers , taxi drivers with million miles Mercedes , BMW’s which had made the world’s round and the list is endless .

How these had happened ?

Because the appropriate maintenance of the car and the care for it , can make “miracles” to his life lasting . As you may observe i haven’t mentioned the Italian “school” .

Since the 80’s and 90’s decades , in which the italian school had serious reliability problems , with rusty car chassis , electric problems , and in general reliability problems , the atmosphere for the creations of the Italian factories ,were facing huge doubts .

And you know when you ruin your good fame , it’s so hard to regain back your previous customers – fans . The Alfa Romeo’s , Lancia’s , Fiat’s , the ‘common’ cars couldn’t compete the German’s ,

French and the Japaneses in the reliability area and general quality . Of course i’m not talking about the Ferrari , Lamborghin’s , Maserati et.c , but the cars for the ‘simple” daily use from all of us .

Since the 1998 and the Alfa Romeo 156 ,Alfa tried to change her history making steps to the right direction and the results , justified her .

Conclusion number 3 :

Every car manufacturer , can have a failure in its cars model range . From a bad design decisions a particular moment , or a failure in the robotics assebly line , or anywhere in the production line . Failures in some bad suppliers choice for the car parts , or material failures .

Wrong directions in the philosophy of the brand for a period of time , or bad continuous luck , or whatever can affect a factory’s performance , ANY CAR FACTORY can have failures in its history .

But what makes a brand maintain its prestige through time ?

The courage and honesty to admit the failures it had and do whatever it can to FIX THE FAILURES . Ferrari had failures , Porsche , Toyota , Honda , Mercedes ….. all .

But they “went outside” in public , they made recalls in their products – cars , and fixed the problems in their own agencies , without ANY CUSTOMER CHARGE . And they moved forward , more wise and professional , as manufacturers .

Conclusion Number 4 :

That’s why the Conclusion number 4 , is close attached with the previous conclusion and IT IS VERY CRUCIAL .

If you want to check what car last the longest , IN A PARTICULAR TIME PERIOD ,you must always make DEEP SEARCH BY YOURSELF , for the car model you need to inform .

Because the SPECIFIC MOMENT , you have concerns about the model you like ,this model could “suffer” from problems , caused by some “weaknesses” the car brand has .

THIS SPECIFIC MOMENT …. but NOT OTHER TIME PERIODS !!!!!!!!!

You maybe are so unlucky and “fall over” on a quarter of a year , in which your favorite car brand , had serious “themes” and produced some thousands problematic cars .

BE INFORMED AND AVOID THAT THOUSAND CARS !!!!!!!

Search for information coming from the factory directly . Search for info , from the biggest web companies and sites and “filter” them . Search in the biggest and most respectable forums and “filter” , the reviews and opinions you’ll see inside them .

Search and ask opinions in your closest surroundings and if you have a car mechanic friend , who knows the car model you like , even better . Be patient and don’t hurry to buy this car who has maybe issues .

The time “works” for you , so you can collect more info . The wise people say , ” if you have doubts , you have NO DOUBTS….” ” If you are uncertain , you are certain…”

Conclusion number 5 :

Different continents , different climate circumstances ,different car specifications for each continents , different service “routines” for each continent , different fuel , different daily driving routine , different drivers , different lifetime LASTING for a car .

So the query about the cars which can last the longest , the answer is more complicated than many can think . And of course very relavant and affected from so any factors .

It isn’t “cold – blooded” mathematics , but with the correct approach and knowing some basic facts about the hole cars world ,you can make the right decision . You can choose correctly no matter how many car models the factories present every year and the confusion this , may give you .

1) Search the big world research centers which tests reliability for decades .

2) Search in those centers the reliability and history of the car manufacturer you like .

3) After the reliability of the car manufacturer in general , search more specific the model you like of this manufacturer . Does this specific model , had recalls ?

Why and in which part .

Because if the model , you like had a recall concerning the engine area and it was serious one , you may consider to abort your purchase .

But if this model had a recall , because some screws in the driver seat needed care or something like that ,you may judge this recall a minor one and doesn’t damage your opinion you have for the car .

4) Are there any serious and continuous accidents have happened around the globe , because of a malfunction of this car model , and not a driver’s mistake ?

5) Search in the biggest sources in the web to find “serious” opinions , reviews ,blaims ,opinions from experienced car journalists and testers .

6) Search big car forums for reviews , from “common” people and not specialists ,because those reviews have been made from big periods of time , living with the car opportunity the journalists , don’t have .

Most of the test the magazines and big sites do , are lasting a couple of days , or a week somewhere around this time period . But the “simple” people as you and me live with the car for months , years .

Ask friends , relatives ,mechanic friends ,and whoever you can reach to take information and , “filter” all of them , trying to find the objective reality .

After you do all of the above , go and see , “examine” , drive the specific model going in the nearest car agency and before you come to your final decision . Ask about the servises and maintaenance this model , needs to be in a high level and last the longest .

Why ?

Because , what’s the meaning of buying a car that can last the longest time period , if you must give , “tons” of money for its services ?

So take a look at which are the kilometers points , for its predefined services , what money you’ll give for them , the cost of the spare parts ,so you can get an idea about the cost of living with it . You think that it’s all over , correct ? I guess not .

All the research you’ll do above all the “work” you’ll do ,trying to find answers about the best car concerning its reliabilty , you must know that it’s only an instant “photo” , more or less and things are changing .

Of course the companies which are making constantly reliable cars , have more points through time ,but “things” are changing for these companies too .

They become better companies , making more reliable cars , or become worst companies for some reasons . That’s why a future buyer should search , with concistency and “open minded” , waiting to find anything .

The www.iseecars.com , has taken a sample of more than 12 million of cars and searched for their reliability score .

Here some of its recent results :
